Borneo kratom
Red Vein Borneo is a tried-and-tested, relaxing kratom strain, and it is many people's favorite.
Many people who are fans of Red Vein Borneo are unaware of what they are using, because Red Vein Borneo is so often marketed as Bali kratom.
Bali kratom is the favorite of a great many connoisseurs, and is very much a staple of the aficionado's collection. If you buy just one relaxing strain of kratom, you probably can't go wrong with a Bali.
An important thing to note at the outset is that if you do buy a Bali kratom, it probably doesn't come from Bali! The trees it comes from are mostly in Borneo. The confusion has arisen because during the early days of kratom export to the west, the traders were shipping the kratom out of Balinese ports, and the name 'Bali' was applied to this kratom. Therefore if you see kratom being marketed as Borneo, particularly Red Vein Borneo kratom, in all probability it's exactly the same product. Nevertheless the name 'Bali kratom' has stuck.
If you are choosing a Bali kratom, or Red Vein Borneo kratom, you should look for crushed leaves or powder with a dark colour. This is because the leaves darken with age, and older leaves are known to have a stronger alkaloid profile. Therefore, generally speaking, the darker the colour of the finished product, the stronger the effects and the more 'bang for your buck' that the end user is getting.
Bali kratom effects are fairly straightforward. They are likely to have a mildly sedative effect, and may be a good choice if analgesic (painkilling) properties are desired.
Some vendors carry a variety of blends based on Bali or Red Vein Borneo kratom strains, in order to provide slightly different effects, and give them different names which can be confusing (and even daunting) at first. However, it's fairly simple. As an example of some of the different ways in which Bali kratom can be blended and named, either by suppliers or end users:
Malay Kratom:
Whilst it is a strongly euphoric and gently energizing kratom at lower amounts, it becomes relaxing and pleasantly sedative at higher quantities. The point at which its effect changes from energizing to relaxing will vary from person to person, so there's an element of trial-and-error involved - however that can be an extremely enjoyable experiment to conduct!
