In South-East Asia Mitragyna speciosa Kratom leaf is also often made into a tea. This has also become, by far, the most common and popular method using Kratom outside of Asia.

Mitragyna speciosa Kratom leaves are usually boiled, strained and drunk.

Some people like to mix Kratom tea with some other infusion, such as ordinary black tea, or other herbal teas, in order to make the drink more palatable. Sugar or honey can be added to sweeten it and diminish Kratom’s bitterness and does not affect Kratom potency.

Alcohol can be added to the infusion in order to preserve it for longer periods, making a form of Kratom tincture, but one should then use very concentrated infusions, in order to avoid combining Kratom with large amounts of alcohol, which is not recommended.
